    Dear ayan,
    dont take what I say as advice or anything. Just a few observations.
    are u familiar with the work of Joe Sacco, the graphic journalist?
    u have a terrific talent. Don't waste it being a statistic at this or that animation studio trying to earn some money.
    The world needs independent thinking conscientious artists who have the courage to speak the Truth. Not commercial minded expert technicians. Ur parents have given u some tremendous opportunities.
    Do full justice to yourself. Become an artist. Not a technician. These are the most vigorous youthful energetic days of your life. Dont waste them away.
    I see that you're finally starting to question and observe. Keep at it. Become self-aware. read the teachings of realized souls like J Krishnamurthi, Eckhart Tolle, Ramakrishna paramhamsa, etc etc. Open your mind. All this will help you become an artist.

  • Sorry it took a while to reply. I wanted to think it over a bit before I replied.
    
    I exactly know what you are saying. And I definitely want to head that way, and have already to an extent. But it definitely is a painful path. Not because it is difficult, much rather easy. But whenever I have placed an opinion, I seriously have offended many.
    
    An open conscious calls for an unbiased opinion and a mere observation. And when thrown out in public, most take it subjectively rather than objectively. And it pains to see them hurt, when all I want to do is create awareness and appeal to everyone's thoughts.
    
    For now I have a huge student loan, so the plan is to get rid of that before I pursue what I want to do. For now that is the plan, mite take me a year or 2.

  • brother i wasnt talking about opinions or anything. it doesnt matter what the world thinks. it just doesnt.
    
    soon you will come to realise that you can't change the world. nor do you have to. my essential point to you is to purify yourself.
    
    as an artist, you have to be courageous and ponder over the deeper realities of life. is life really all about getting a job, getting married, kids, housing loan, retirement policies and death?
    
    becoming self-aware is a step in that direction. ask yourself some deep questions. who are you? how did you come to be born? what are you doing in this world?
    
    read about self realization. get an intellectual and then eventually, an experiential understanding of the Truth.
    
    i speak from personal experience. after working for almost 10 years, i became disillusioned with this rat race, this greed obsessed 'career' oriented lifestyle that has become such a collective drain on humanity.
    everyday was a battlefield. trying to sell shit i didnt make to people i dont know (i worked in advertising). and what for anyway? so after spending almost 30 years looking outwards, i have finally turned inwards to find out who i really am.
    am i just this body and mind? just biological matter? or is there something deeper?
    
    of course, you may come upon these things in the natural course of your life. your experience of life and your innate sensitivity will make you ask these questions sooner or later. i can only hasten that process a little bit maybe by egging you on.
    
    so do your work i.e. whatever you have to do to get rid of the loan. meanwhile, like all the wise men have always said, keep the quest on for 'knowing thyself'. that's the most important thing brother.

  • I have questioned everything since I was a kid. To me nothing is right or wrong or of a particular distinction. I have looked known and provoked a lot of theories or emotions I react to as per action. After all the self realization and questing I have reached a state where nothing affects, neither I question anything.
    Things happen with a purpose, yet there is nothing to be achieved. Right now after everything I have known and seen and looked both outside and inside. I have realized that we are nothing but mold growing on a piece of stale bread left in the state of nature to rot. And existence is merely a coincidence with no deeper meaning or hidden agenda.
    Pretty much have reached a state where life comes a day at a time and everything that happens happens 'cause it has to. A drop in placid water had caused a reaction and the ripple goes back to where it started. Likewise we all go back to where we all started. To nothingness.
    I have neither ever cared for money or fame or even felt the need for anything for myself. But there are these loved ones around i.e. parents, for who have wants and needs, for which i live. And for which arises the outside world, that is the materialistic needs. The exterior which I have avoided, until much recently, since I have been having hard time to find work to pay off bills.
    Once all these wants and needs of others is done. I will be back to my self, living each day at a time, questing nature, my actions, my emotional reactions.
    Yet survival is necessary, for if we keep dwelling in oneself, suicide is no different than forgetting what surrounds us.
    
    Beshi high fi hoye galo.lol. But I am positively sure, this is who I am and will be even after whatever stage I reach in life.

  • Chill chill. U may have questioned since childhood. But doesn't necessarily mean u've found all the answers.
    Don't be pessimistic. Life has tremendous meaning once you realize you aren't merely body and mind.
    Life is Lila. Play. One big stage called mahamaya. And ur playing in it.
    Like I said, read some books. Don't leap to final conclusions. Anyway I'll leave the self-discovery bit to yourself. U have a long life ahead.

  • Nope, havent found the all the answers yet and never will. Its a endless pool of wisdom.
    Not pessimistic or optimistic at all. All that I have said has been a mere observation. Of looking at things out of emotions, in a objective point of view. Not attaching to things.
    I have been reading books, but everytime I do, I tend to see all these books are a result of authors going through a drastic setback in there life. Hard to find one that they have written going through a satisfactory life. A life in which they have received everything they have needed, not what they wanted. Then there can be a book which is objective rather than subjective.
    I like vivekanand and confucius. Books on taoistic beliefs. I like books that arent an argument but rather observations without the feeling of conflict or non coherent beliefs.
    Self discovery is an ongoing journey, a life without it is merely a long life.

  • Yes. I have read the power of now. Not fully but bits. It seems good. We should have a discussion definitely. If I dont end up finding work here by December. I will be heading to India. And it is either going to be mumbai or bangalore.
